Summary
As data centers of multiple types expand their footprints, the need to move massive volumes of data reliably, securely, and at high speed between facilities has made data center interconnect (DCI) essential to modern network architecture. But like data centers themselves, DCI connections can vary in their technologies, capabilities, and architectures. This web seminar, hosted by Cabling Installation & Maintenance, will take a detailed look at
DCI, including an emphasis on ensuring the connectivity is robust and reliable.
Attendees will explore why DCI has become foundational to business continuity, disaster recovery, workload mobility, AI cluster scaling, and hybrid cloud strategies. The seminar examines the types of data centers that depend on DCI and their performance requirements, including hyperscales, enterprises, colos, and edge data centers, as well as next-generation DCI fiber technology, including hollow core fiber.
The session also dives into the technical characteristics of DCI connections, comparing different link types and lengths, along with the essential performance characteristics of each. The seminar also delivers practical guidance on ensuring DCI deployments meet evolving requirements for bandwidth, scalability, and resiliency. By reviewing best practices in such processes as optical testing and performance monitoring, participants will gain insight into DCI infrastructures that are robust and optimized for future needs.
