Summary

Traditional fiber architectures are reaching their practical limits for density, scalability, and pathway utilization as AI infrastructure grows across sprawling campuses. Multicore fiber (MCF) is emerging as a next-generation solution capable of dramatically increasing bandwidth density while reducing cabling footprint and infrastructure complexity across AI-driven campus environments. We will explore how hyperscale operators and infrastructure providers are rethinking campus optical architectures to support rising east-west traffic demands, higher fiber counts, and increasingly dense interconnect requirements. Panelists will examine the practical realities of deploying next-generation fiber infrastructure, including cabling design, high-density connectivity, testing and certification, interoperability with existing environments, and long-term scalability strategies for AI-ready campuses. Attendees will gain practical insight into how the optical infrastructure ecosystem is evolving to support the next era of high-capacity campus networking.
