Power over Ethernet (PoE) is a long-established and trusted technology, implemented globally for decades, that has fundamentally changed the way LANs are deployed and powered. Today, some of the network devices using PoE require increasing amounts of power to support their growing capabilities. It has never been more important for cabling professionals to be familiar with the best practices for designing and installing cabling systems that support PoE.

In this webinar, CommScope’s Brad Pelloni and Axis Communications’ Alex Walthers team up to deliver a 1-hour session covering the technological evolutions that are asking more of PoE than ever before. Their presentation will begin with PoE fundamentals including the Classes defined in PoE standards. It will then focus on the power draw of modern devices including network cameras, describing their practical implications on characteristics such as cabling distance and thermal performance.

The session concludes with a discussion of what these latest PoE-powered devices can unlock for a network administrator—including use cases in multiple environments, the ability to integrate IT and OT in a facility, and best-practice approaches to troubleshooting when the unexpected happens.
