TIA issues Call For Interest on new project for 'Balanced Twisted-Pair Telecommunications Cabling And Components Standard Addendum 2: Power Delivery Over Balanced Twisted-Pair Cabling.'
The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-42 TR-42.7 engineering committee on telecommunications copper cabling systems (568) has issued a call for interest for document TIA-568.2-D-2, titled, Balanced Twisted-Pair Telecommunications Cabling and Components Standard Addendum 2: Power Delivery Over Balanced Twisted-Pair Cabling.

Per TIA: "TIA-568.2-D-2 will be an addendum to TIA 568.2-D. The proposed addendum will provide normative requirements for supporting the delivery of power over installations of balanced copper cabling, intended to supplement the material in TIA TSB-184-A.

"This will include options for specific prescriptive requirements, partially engineered solutions, and completely engineered solutions which allow widely varying techniques but adhere to strict end requirements."

TIA is actively seeking participation in TIA-568.2-D-2 from the user and general interest communities. Stakeholders are invited to contact TIA regarding participation in the project. Stakeholders may include but are not limited to: users, producers, and test equipment producers of coaxial cabling.

A major function of the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) is the writing and maintenance of voluntary industry standards and specifications. These activities are carried out by the volunteer members of TIA engineering committees. Recent meeting reports, agendas and notices for upcoming meetings, as well as links to some of the most popular standards from each committee are available on TIA’s public engineering committee pages.
