July 22, 2008 -- Leviton has released its Opt-X Ultra series of high density fiber rack enclosures, along with a line of durable injection-molded plastic fiber splice trays.

Constructed of tinted polycarbonate and 16-gauge powder-coated steel, Opt-X Ultra line of fiber rack enclosures is both aesthetically appealing and durable, making it ideal for enterprise and data center applications, claims the company. The 1RU, 2RU, and 4RU enclosures offer a variety of accessibility and management features. The enclosures' easy-glide sliding tray is fully removable to facilitate high-density field terminations and splicing; the front and rear of the bulkhead remains accessible for moves, adds, and changes.

Transparent, removable front and rear doors and chassis covers provide enhanced visibility and accessibility. The bulkheads accept Plug-n-Play MTP modules or splice trays and adapter plates. Stackable, adjustable fiber management rings organize, protect, and store fiber slack; while 17" depth accommodates high-density fiber termination and splicing. Patch cord bend radius guides prevent macro-bending of routed fibers at cable exit points

"Today's voice and data networks are increasingly complex and require more sophisticated solutions to ensure end-to-end signal integrity and protection," says Scott Robinson, director, fiber product management at Leviton. "The Opt-X Ultra offers tremendous value for both enterprise and data center customers by providing a unique solution with improved fiber storage, management and distribution capabilities. The design truly delivers a dramatically new and up-scale appearance."

The Opt-X Ultra Enclosures are also available pre-configured for field termination and splicing through the company's make-to-order program. Options include splice trays, locking doors, 23" rack mounting ears, and cable strain relief bracket.

Also recently released are Leviton's durable, injection-molded plastic fiber splice trays. Available in 12-fiber mini and 24-fiber high-density versions, the splice trays protect and manage heat shrink style spliced fibers. Each tray accommodates 250 or 900 micron singlemode or multimode fiber with wide channels that reduce congestion. The clear cover offers improved fiber visibility. Ratchet action clamps with foam rubber padding secure incoming and outgoing fibers without crimping, and multiple tie-down holes provide attachment points for incoming fiber.

The 12-fiber Mini and 24-fiber High Density splice trays are compatible with the Leviton LightSpace CPC/CPS Wall Mount Series and Opt-X Series Fiber enclosures, including the Opt-X ultra high density fiber enclosure weries. The 12-Fiber Mini splice trays are also compatible with all Leviton Network Interface Device (NID) enclosures.
