July 7, 2009 -- Solarflare Communications and Bel Fuse announced results from recent qualification of the Bel 1X1 integrated magnetics module (MagJack) with Solarflare's 10Xpress 10GBASE-T PHY.

July 7, 2009 -- Solarflare Communications, a provider of 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) silicon, and Bel Fuse, a developer of magnetic-based devices for high-speed networking and computer applications, announced results from recent qualification of the Bel 1X1 integrated magnetics module (MagJack) with Solarflare's 10Xpress 10GBASE-T PHY.

According to the companies, superior insertion loss, return loss and crosstalk performance were measured across 100 meters of Category 6A UTP copper Ethernet cabling, confirming the combined solution's ability to support optimal network performance and reliability on high-density 24-port 10GBASE-T switches that are forthcoming from multiple OEMs in USA and Asia.

The companies maintain that data centers and enterprises will need to upgrade to 10 Gigabit networks in order to provide the high bandwidth needed to support advanced applications, such as virtualization and cloud computing, as well as the continuing convergence of LAN / SAN traffic. 10GBASE-T switches and server adapters are the most cost effective means to meet this need. 10GBASE-T solutions can be deployed over both newer Category 6A as well as installed Category 6 UTP copper Ethernet cabling.

"Bel's new single-port LAN magnetics modules are the preferred choice for OEM design engineers to use with the latest generation of 10GBASE-T PHY chips," comments John Hess, Bel's MagJack product line manager. "Solarflare's testing proves that 10GBASE-T can easily support high-density, high-performance data services and higher-speed network switches and servers."
