Xirrus to provide Wi-Fi platform for upcoming 4GWE wireless expo

Xirrus announced as Gold Sponsor for September's 4GWE Wireless Evolution Conference and Expo 2011, to be held in Austin, TX.

TMC and Crossfire Media announced that Wi-Fi systems provider Xirrus has signed on as a Gold Sponsor of their jointly sponsored 4GWE Wireless Evolution Conference and Expo, taking place September 13-15 in Austin, TX.

“We’ve partnered with Xirrus for several events, not only featuring company executives in our conference, but also working together to deliver Wi-Fi services to all of the conference attendees visiting 4GWE and ITEXPO,” comments Crossfire Media’s Carl Ford. “The Xirrus platform we use provides ample bandwidth and wide reach for hundreds of users spread out throughout the convention center, and it also supports streaming wireless video, which is essential for our events. We have a great partnership with Xirrus and we’re looking forward to working together once again in Austin.”

For the event, the Xirrus Wi-Fi Array will be deployed, the design of which integrates up to 16 access points with high-gain directional antennas into a single device, along with an onboard multi-gigabit switch, Wi-Fi controller, firewall, dedicated Wi-Fi threat sensor, and an embedded spectrum analyzer. Xirrus says its Wi-Fi Array platform requires 75% fewer devices, cabling, switch ports, power, space, and installation time than competitive product offerings, while providing enough bandwidth, security, and control to replace switched Ethernet to the desktop as a primary network connection.

“4GWE assembles a community of people that are deeply concerned with how wireless traffic moves from end user devices to the backbone as efficiently as possible, and we always look forward to showing this audience how our solutions can address their needs,” said Lorna Pierno, Director of Marketing Programs at Xirrus.
