Direct-attach copper assemblies pass interoperability tests with multiple 10G equipment makers

Testing at UNH-IOL showed Siemon's SFP+ direct attach passive copper cables are compatible with 10G gear from Cisco, Brocade, Dell, Mellanox, Arista, F5 and Arastra.

Siemon recently announced positive results of interoperability testing of its SFP+ direct attach passive copper cables with several vendors' 10-Gbit/sec networking devices. Those networking vendors included Arastra, Arista, Brocade, Dell, Cisco, F5 and Mellanox.

The tests were conducted at the University of New Hampshire Interoperability Lab (UNH-IOL), and the UNH-IOL report includes results of seven different SFP+ devices and five cable lengths, from 1 to 7 meters, of Siemon passive copper assemblies. "Five different link tests were performed, employing various combinations of powering up the device under test," Siemon explained. "All cables passed interoperability testing. In addition, a packet error ratio estimation test was run to determine if any packets are lost, and there were no errors."

Siemon added that this type of testing is part of the company's "ongoing program to certify our cables are suitable for use across a broad range of high-speed networking equipment, including some equipment that may require use of proprietary and higher-cost assemblies."

The high-speed interconnect (HSI) product line from Siemon includes SFP+, QSFP+, miniSAS, QSFP+-to-SFP+, breakout and miniSAS fanout copper cables for use in point-to-point applications in data centers.
