comCables partners with security products distributor

Sept. 14, 2012
Structured cabling platforms supplier has teamed with Tri-Ed / Northern Video Distribution, one of North America’s largest independent security products and technology distributors.

comCables (Denver, CO) a manufacturer and supplier of structured cabling platforms, announced that it has teamed with Tri-Ed / Northern Video Distribution, one of North America’s largest independent security products and technology distributors. “This new partnership with Tri-Ed /Northern Video provides comCables a vehicle to offer our structured cabling products to security dealers and integrators for their IP-security projects through Tri-Ed / Northern Video’s extensive distribution network,” comments Greg Greenwood, comCables president and CEO.

The manufacturer-distributor partnership pairs two specialists in IP convergence, contens comCables, which allows many disparate systems -- such as fire alarm, security, surveillance and card access -- all to transmit system information on the data network. “This advancement offers significant efficiency and productivity gains, with IP allowing these systems to be monitored and managed,” adds Greenwood.

comCables cites itself as having built a reputation as one of the nation’s emerging manufacturers of lifetime guaranteed, high-performance cabling products backed by a world class service-oriented experience. Tri-Ed / Northern Video offers a comprehensive line card of IP products and technology, coupled with extensive customer education, training and support.

"Besides heightened productivity and efficiency gains because of IP convergence, there is a substantial bottom-line upside [to the partnership] as well," Greenwood emphasizes. “IP convergence enables existing staff to manage, monitor and troubleshoot far more efficiently than is possible with separate management of each low voltage system. This is helping drive projections that the US structured cable market -- a key piece of IP convergence infrastructure development -- will grow 300 percent over the next seven years.”

“We’re very pleased to partner with comCables,” says Pat Comunale, President and CEO of Tri-Ed / Northern Video Distribution. “We look forward to offering our customers their complete line of cable and connectivity products and serving as a one-stop shop of choice for all their IP installation needs. And, Tri-Ed / Northern Video's vast distribution network will enable comCables to significantly expand its sales reach.”

The affiliation with a distributor known primarily for security distribution is a new frontier for comCables, which traditionally has been marketed through data communication and electrical channels. Notes Greenwood, “Security over IP is the hottest new convergence space, similar to the position occupied a few years ago by Voice over IP (VoIP). Data collection and optimizing is very robust. You can get way more information from all these systems, in turn making this a powerful business tool. By adding IP, you can manage such devices as cameras and biometric readers, and determine specific event details.”
