London investment house installs 2,000 Cat 6 RJ45 outlets, connected to a backbone of OM3 and OS2 fiber, to support 300 employees in 44,200 square feet of space.

Investment- and wealth-management services firm Rathbone Brothers invested in Category 6 unshielded twisted-pair and OM3 fiber-optic cabling when it relocated its London headquarters earlier this year. Datwyler, which provided the Cat 6, OM3 and OS2 systems deployed in the new Rathbones facility, announced that the project "involved the installation and commissioning of more than 1,000 Category 6 cabinet links and 2,000 RJ45 telecommunication outlets," adding that the "fiber backbone links include OM3 multimode and OS2 singlemode cable ... and other fiber-optic components."

The new Rathbones facility, located in Mayfair and comprising approximately 44,200 square feet on two floors, houses the firm's 300 London-based employees. Rathbones has more than 700 staff members altogether.

Datwyler was called on in autumn 2011 to supply the cabling products and systems for the project. "The consultant was Planned Telecom Systems who specified Datwyler and worked closely with the UK Datwyler team during the installation," the manufacturer said. "The work was carried out by Able Data, one of Datwyler's global partners."

Able Data's project manager Alex Hudson said, "I was happy with the continued support offered by Datwyler and the assistance in overcoming various challenges on site."
