White paper explains 40/100-GbE for virtualized data center, campus networks

Oct. 17, 2012
New white paper from CommScope.

A new white paper from CommScope contends that 40/100 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) infrastructure is rapidly gaining traction as a key foundation for building the next generation of virtualized data center and campus environments. A 40/100GbE-based architecture for virtualized data center and campus networks is illustrated in the paper, which is co-authored by Frank Yang.

Capital investment in 10-GbE networks today can be protected when upgrading to 40/100-GbE networks in the future, notes CommScope. Ethernet switching and fiber cabling examples in the paper illustrate that 55 percent of investment on switching equipment can be protected, and 57 percent of investment on fiber cabling can be preserved when deploying 40/100-GbE.
