Modular plugs stagger pins for conductor isolation

Oct. 15, 2012
Platinum Tools’ Category 5e and Category 6 modular plugs feature a Hi-Lo design, which the company says isolates each conductor at the point of termination and reduces crosstalk.

Category 5e and Category 6 modular plugs from Platinum Tools feature a staggered pin design the company calls Hi-Lo, which “isolates each conductor at the point of termination,” according to product manager John Phillips. “This allows air, the world’s best insulator, to surround each conductor and thus eliminate NEXT, FEXT and AXT,” he continued. “The end result is performance beyond certification requirements. Plus the internal conductor channels make for easy prep without the need for liners.”

The Hi-Performance brand Cat 5e and Cat 6 Modular Plugs “combine traditional/standard style modular plugs for terminating cables in telephone and data applications,” the company said. “Manufactured to comply with FCC 68 guidelines and UL listed, multiple position, contact configuration styles and round cable versions are available. Gold-plated contacts provide reliable performance and long life.”
