FiberPlex, Mercom form strategic partnership, eye government contracts

Mercom’s Value Added Reseller division will now serve as a reseller for FiberPlex’s full range of fiber-optic communications products.

FiberPlex Technologies and Mercom Corporation have announced the formation of a new vendor partnership especially intended to benefit government agencies, and other organizations. Mercom’s Value Added Reseller division will now serve as a reseller for FiberPlex’s full range of fiber-optic communications products. Fiberplex will also serve as a supply vendor for Mercom’s Audio Visual and Structured Cabling departments.

“We believe that Mercom is going to be an excellent partner moving forward due to their strategic position in the government contracting world and relationships with their end-user customers," comments Mitch Abel, FiberPlex's director of government relations. "FiberPlex is looking forward to the growth and success of both companies due to this newfound partnership."

Established in 2000, Mercom Corporation is headquartered in Pawleys Island, SC and is certified by the Small Business Administration (SBA) as a woman-owned, small disadvantaged company. In addition, Mercom has a federal office in Falls Church, VA and satellite offices in Virginia Beach, VA and Charleston, SC.

“Cyber security is mission critical for our government agency clients. Many IT departments run copper networks for their physical cabling infrastructure which allows for ‘leakage’ or data emanation, increasing the potential for a security breach," comments Stella Mercado, Mercom's CEO and president. "Mercom’s partnership with FiberPlex provides secure fiber solutions to enhance information assurance for our federal and commercial clients. We are excited to partner with FiberPlex, cementing our strategic vision.”
