L-com improves rack-mount data-line and phone lightning protectors

Oct. 24, 2013
The company has re-designed its 19-inch rack-mount lightning and surge protectors for Ethernet, phone and DSL lines.

L-com has released new and improved versions of its 19-inch rack mount lightning and surge protectors for Ethernet, phone and DSL lines. The improvements include newly designed 1U rack panels constructed of 1/16 inch thick cold rolled steel with a flat black powder coat. The new panel design is also now compatible with L-com's PR-CMB cable management bracket kit for 19-inch panels.

The improved parts are a 4-port 10/100 Base-T Cat 5 protector, a 4-port 10/100/1000 Base-T Cat 6 protector and a 4-port 10/100/1000 Base-T Cat 6 gas tube protector, all with shielded RJ45 jacks, as well as a 4-port telephone/DSL/T1 protector with RJ11 jacks. All are typically used on 19-inch racks which may have many cables plugged in, making cable management accessories very valuable in keeping order.

"Our customers alerted us that the panel design in our original products was not compatible with our PR-CMB cable management brackets," comments Patrick Pesa, director of product development for L-com. "So we immediately began the re-design that we're [now] releasing."

The new and improved models will be stocked in L-com's HyperLink facility in Boca Raton, FL for immediate shipment. Datasheets, engineering drawings, CAD models, and protector diagrams are available for free download from the company's website.
