NEMA issues guide to evaluating fire-damaged electrical equipment
The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) has published a new guide, entitled Evaluating Fire- and Heat-Damaged Electrical Equipment, which provides information on how to evaluate electrical equipment that has been exposed to heat and fire residue through fire, firefighting activities, or close proximity to fire.

The guide is useful for suppliers, installers, inspectors, and users of electrical products. NEMA contends that, before publication of the document, little guidance was available for installers and inspectors on how to evaluate electrical equipment that has been exposed to heat and fire residue. The guide may be downloaded at no cost from the NEMA website.
