Congdon replaces Cheryl Blum, who will retire from TIA.

The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) has announced the appointment of Herbert V. Congdon II, PE to the position of Vice-President of Technology & Standards. Congdon, who has been with TIA since 2011, replaces Cheryl Blum, who will retire from TIA.

Herb Congdon joined TIA as Associate Vice-President of the Technology & Standards Department and has worked in the optical fiber cable and components industry since 1992. As full VP, he is responsible for the association’s programs for writing and maintaining voluntary industry standards and specifications, formulating positions for presentations on behalf of the United States in international standards fora, and preparing technical information and reports for use by the industry and government.

“Herb was a perfect choice for the role and brings a long history of service to TIA, both as an employee and with our engineering committees,” comments Grant Seiffert, president of TIA. “Herb will serve TIA well in this new capacity, however we will certainly miss Cheryl. She has been very important to TIA over the years, and has had a long and impressive career. Cheryl has been an extremely valuable ambassador to our membership and to the international standards community. We wish Cheryl the best in her retirement.”
