Winchester Electronics acquires coaxial cable, assembly maker Haverhill

Dec. 2, 2013
Private-equity-owned Winchester has made eight acquisitions since 2007.

Winchester Electronics Corporation recently announced it has acquired Haverhill Cable and Manufacturing Corporation. Haverhill produces semi-rigid coaxial cable and cable assemblies used in microwave and radio-frequency (RF) systems in commercial, military and satellite equipment, Winchester says.

“The acquisition of Haverhill enhances Winchester’s product and manufacturing capabilities,” the company added. Winchester designs and manufactures connectivity solutions including connectors and cable assemblies for multiple markets.

Winchester is a portfolio company of private-equity firm Audax. The Haverhill acquisition is Winchester’s eighth since it was acquired by Audax in 2006. The other acquisitions were: Advanced Interconnect in April 2007; Kings Electronics Corp. in May 2007; Electrical Specialty Products in July 2012; Clement National Company in August 2012; Continental Connector Company in May 2013; Bomar Interconnect Products in August 2013; and SRC Cables in October 2013.

“The Haverhill acquisition expands Winchester’s manufacturing capabilities, and we look forward to working with Kevin Perhamus and Tom Kneeland to integrate the business,” said Oliver Ewald, managing director of Audax Private Equity. “We intend to continue to build Winchester through new-product introductions, global expansion and strategic add-on acquisitions, both domestically and abroad.”

Perhamus, Winchester’s chief executive officer, added, “The acquisition is an exciting development for Winchester and our customers. We look forward to working with Tom Kneeland and the Haverhill team to share best practices as we continue to grow the company.”

Kneeland, Haverhill’s president, said, “This acquisition is a positive outcome for our customers. In joining Winchester, Haverhill will now be able to provide additional services and capabilities, while maintaining the quality and reliability our customers have come to expect.”
