As noted at Telecompaper (Telecom.paper BV - The Netherlands), as part of a revised Australian standard for telecommunications wiring, the Australian Communications Alliance recently put forth new rules for the safe installation of fiber-optic communications lines at customer premises locations.
The country's AS/CA S009 Installation Requirements for Customer Cabling (Wiring Rules) Standard reportedly defines minimum requirements to ensure the safety and integrity of cabling installations in customer premises and of the telecommunications networks to which premises are connected. The revised standard will be submitted to the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) with a recommendation that it be substituted for the statute's previous version, created in 2006, said the reporting.
