STI re-brands firestop grommets

STI re-brands UL Classified firestop grommets for permanent-seal cable penetrations.

Specified Technologies Inc. (STI) recently shifted its Ready firestop grommet product into its line of fire-rated cable pathways, and has re-named the product the EZ Path firestop grommet.

"The decision to move our firestop grommet into the EZ Path family was an easy one," explains Ray Bruno, STI's vice president of sales and marketing. "This specially designed firestop grommet is the ideal pathway solution for small or a small number of cables penetrating fire rated walls and support 1 cable to 5,000 cables in a 'no caulk, no putty, zero maintenance' solution."

According to the company, the firestop grommets are engineered to permanently seal cable penetrations through fire-rated walls, eliminating the need for sleeves, sealant and putty, which can be time-consuming, expensive, and messy. Requiring no special tools, the two-piece grommet snaps together quickly around cabling and locks tightly into the wall. Cables are smoke-sealed and firestopped in minutes with no sleeve, sealant or putty required. The split design makes them idea for both new or previous installed cables.

The grommets provide up to a two-hour rating in gypsum board and stud wall assemblies. They are UL Classifed, and tested and approved to meet the exacting criteria of ASTM E814 (UL1479) and CAN/ULC S115. The RFG1 grommet is designed to seal single low voltage cables or smaller cable bundles with a max 0.27 inch (7mm) OD and the RFG2 grommet is designed to seal a single low voltage cable or a cable bundle with a max 0.53 inch (14mm) OD.
