Chatsworth unveils new energy management products for enterprise data centers

At the recent BICSI Winter show in Tampa, FL (Jan. 20-24), Chatsworth Products, Inc. (CPI) furthered its mission of providing the industry with information about cost-saving strategies for data centers.

Introduced through a 3-hour technical seminar that showed how to use ASHRAE guidelines to help optimize airflow management strategies, as well as an interactive exhibition of the company's eConnect power distribution units (PDUs), CPI provided BICSI attendees with information about the tools needed to maximize efficiency and reduce energy costs within data center and networking environments.

CPI presented the seminar, entitled Turn Up the Heat: How to Reduce Costs through Airflow Containment and New ASHRAE Guidelines, as a new pathway toward reduced cooling costs in data centers. Utilizing new ASHRAE recommendations for higher set points on cooling equipment and an explanation of effective approaches to aisle containment, the educational seminar was presented by CPI's global technology manager Ian Seaton and application field engineer John Thompson.

Those attending the seminar learned about how to: optimize data center airflow containment on the cable, cabinet and aisle level; reap specific financial rewards connected to higher temperatures in the data center as suggested by ASHRAE's new Thermal Guidelines for Data Processing Environments; and how to use specialized flow charts to determine a personalized ROI based on specific applications.

In addition to the presentation, CPI exhibited a wide range of products and solutions on the BICSI exhibition floor.
