Belden-PPC exhibits DOCSIS 3.1-standard broadband Internet connectivity at SCTE

Sept. 23, 2014
The explosion of digital television and mobile devices has the broadcast industry investing in its infrastructure to meet increasing demand.

Belden will showcase its PPC brand’s latest DOCSIS (Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification) 3.1-ready coaxial connectivity technologies at the upcoming Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) Cable-Tec Expo in Denver (Sept. 23-25).

The explosion of digital television and mobile devices has the broadcast industry investing in its infrastructure to meet increasing demand. Belden-PPC contends that there is also a rising trend of consumer demand for data, and the rapid increase of on-demand content has the broadband industry expanding to reach higher speeds and support new standards like DOCSIS 3.1.

Otherwise known as “Gigasphere,” the company notes that DOCSIS 3.1 is a new international telecommunications standard developed by CableLabs and represents the next generation of broadband Internet technology. Companies like Time Warner Cable have announced expansion to DOCSIS 3.1 -- allowing the support of downstream speeds of up to 10 Gbps.

“Consumer demand for data is rapidly increasing and to meet this demand comes DOCSIS 3.1, and Belden is equipped with several DOCSIS-ready products in its portfolio,” comments Josh Dixon, VP of product management at PPC. “Our primary goal has always been to respond to the challenges and needs of our customers and bring the latest technologies. Providing products that permit the addition of high-speed data transfer not only responds to customer demands, but drives long-term growth in all of our product categories.”

Belden and PPC will feature several of these DOCSIS-ready products at the Cable-Tec Expo in booth #1064. PPC will also feature a demonstration of their noise mitigation technology (NMT). A team of technician trainers will also be on hand at the booth to demonstrate installation best practices and give attendees a glimpse into PPC’s comprehensive technician training.
