Retractor SM ‘Show Me’ cable retraction modules are part of Extron’s TeamWork Collaboration System of AV cabling technology.

Extron Electronics recently announced the availability of Retractor SM “Show Me” cable retraction models for the company’s TeamWork Collaboration System. “Available Retractor SM Modules provide the user interface for HDMI, DisplayPort, or VGA sources,” Extron explained, adding, “Operation is simple and intuitive. Extend the ‘Show Me’ cable, connect it to your source device, and press the ‘Share’ button to share your content on the main presentation display. At the end of the collaboration session, cables retract with the press of a button, ready for use by the next collaboration team.” The modules can be installed into most of Extron’s Cable Cubby Series/2 cable access enclosures (as shown), using the company’s mounting kits.

Casey Hall, vice president of sales and marketing for Extron, commented, “TeamWork AV collaboration systems are recognized for their unique combination of integration flexibility, ease of operation, and low cost of ownership. The availability of the Retractor SM and a range of mounting options enables AV integrators to incorporate an easy-to-use, robust cable management solution that suits the design aesthetics within any collaboration environment.”

Retractor SM modules are designed for use in AV cabling and network systems within schools, libraries, conference rooms and other high-utilization environments, Extron said. Each module includes a preloaded, continuous cable for a single signal type, which ensures consistent, reliable performance regardless of cable extension length. A six-foot pigtail is provided on the system end of the Retractor cable for ease of installation and connection to under-table electronics or floor boxes. HDMI and VGA models pass signals from the connected sources without processing, Extron explained. The DisplayPort and Mini DisplayPort models actively adapt dual-mode DisplayPort signals to HDMI for use with a TeamWork switcher.

With a Cable Cubby Mount Kit, the Retractor SM can be installed into a Cable Cubby Series/2 enclosure. The Triple Mount Kit for the Cable Cubby 1200/1400 and Cable Cubby 500/700 holds up to three Retractor SM modules (shown). The TMK 120 R Table Mount Kit supports up to two Retractor SM modules for under-table mounting applications.
