Leviton has launched a new line of IT/AV systems that combine category-rated structured cabling with audiovisual (AV) signal extenders over HDBaseT-certified links, creating plug-and-play solutions with no programming required.

The enterprise-grade systems allow contractors to extend AV signals over twisted-pair cabling with the same tools used for installing datacom infrastructure. They can then test and certify the installation to Ethernet standards to ensure high-signal performance after they leave the jobsite.

"Leviton IT/AV Systems can be installed, tested and verified as a category-rated link and certified to HDBaseT Alliance standards. This standards-driven approach gives people the confidence of a time-tested third-party validation process for infrastructure verification," said Bill Lauby, Senior Product Manager at Leviton Network Solutions.

Lauby added, "This level of quality allows us to offer a limited lifetime warranty on the cabling infrastructure when an IT/AV system is installed by a Leviton certified contractor, providing additional peace of mind."

Specifically, the new Leviton IT/AV Systems include:

-- HDBaseT-certified HDMI signal extenders, and VGA and USB signal extenders - These end-to-end extenders support interactive white boards, large-screen displays and projectors without the need for any programming, making them easy to set up.

-- HDMI Cables - Commercial-grade Leviton HDMI cables are CL2-rated for in-wall use and feature an optional Cable Lock Kit to secure the HDMI connectors, creating reliable long-term connections in permanent installations.

-- Cat 6A twisted-pair cabling infrastructure - Using Leviton tool-free Atlas-X1 QuickPort Connectors, Atlas-X1 SlimLine Boot Patch Cords and Berk-Tek small-diameter LANmark-XTP Cable, contractors can ensure high performance and protection from alien crosstalk.

-- Multimedia Outlet System (MOS) - This popular front-loading system creates a consistent look and feel for all AV and network connections at the wallplate. It includes new XLR and speakON modules, a pass-through module for transitioning cable through walls, and Stainless Steel Wallplates that are ideal for schools and public venues.

"The increasing convergence of data networks and AV in enterprise, education, government and healthcare projects has positioned low-voltage BICSI RCDD contractors as the next generation of AV installers," concludes Leviton's Lauby. "We are providing the products, systems and tools to help them increase project revenue and be the IT and AV experts for their customers."
