BICSI adds two to board of directors post-election

Nov. 16, 2015
Todd Taylor and Chris Scharrer are incoming BICSI board members, appointed in accordance with the association’s bylaws.

Following the election of four members to the BICSI Board of Directors for 2016-2018 terms, the association named two other individuals members of its board—for two different reasons.

As we reported in early October, BICSI’s membership elected Jeff Beavers to be President-Elect for the 2016-18 term, after which he will serve as BICSI’s President for the 2018-2020 term. Beavers currently serves as the association’s U.S. South-Central Region Director, for a term spanning 2015-2017. His selection as President-Elect will require him to vacate that South-Central Region Director position. In accordance with BICSI bylaws, the sitting board of directors has elected Todd Taylor to serve out the final year of Jeff Beavers’s U.S. South-Central Region Director term, beginning February 2, 2016. Taylor (pictured, left) is director of low-voltage/IT design for Enfinity Engineering in the greater Nashville, TN area.

Additionally, Eric Rinehart, BICSI’s U.S. North-Central Region Director-Elect joined BICSI in a staff position, making him ineligible to serve on the board of directors. The sitting board of directors elected Chris Scharrer to serve in this position for the two-year term beginning February 2, 2016. Scharrer (pictured, right) is vice president of technology development at Diversified Wire and Cable in Sterling Heights, MI. He previously served as BICSI U.S. North-Central Region Director from 2010 to 2012.

In a message to BICSI membership, BICSI President Michael A. Collins, RCDD, RTPM, CCDA, NCE explained these elections were made in congruity with BICSI Bylaws Article VI: Directors and Officers, Section 7: Vacancies. Collins said, “Please join me in congratulating both Todd and Chris in their new responsibilities. I know I speak for the entire BICSI board in stating that we look forward to serving with them both.”
