BioEmitter protects against rust and corrosion in enclosed spaces

Cortec’s BioEmitter product does not interfere with electrical, optical or mechanical performance.

BioEmitter is a new product from Cortec that the company says provides protection from rust and corrosion on metals stored in enclosed spaces—from compact enclosures to spaces up to 50 cubic feet. The BioEmitter is packaged in a vented cardboard box. Users attach the BioEmitter onto a clean surface inside an enclosed area. “It is effective in polluted and humid environments and does not interfere with electrical, optical or mechanical performance,” Cortec said.

“The BioEmitter takes up less than 1 square foot of space,” Cortec explained, adding that its being housed inside a vented cardboard box allows the company’s Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitors (VpCIs) “to migrate throughout the surrounding space to form an invisible molecular shield on metal surfaces, sealing off air and moisture—even in the hardest-to-reach areas. The BioEmitter provides long-term protection against corrosion even in the presence of adverse conditions including salt, moisture, airborne contaminants, H2S [hydrogen sulfide], SO2 [sulfur dioxide], NH3 [ammonia] and others.” The company pointed out that the VpCIs do not contain nitrates, silicones, phosphates, or heavy metals.

“The BioEmitter protects a wide variety of metals from rust and corrosion,” the company said. “These metals include mild steel, galvanized steel, brass, solder, cast iron, silver, aluminum alloys, magnesium alloys, copper and copper-nickel alloys.”
