Zinwave demonstrates public safety wireless platform at IWCE

March 30, 2017
Zinwave says its UNItivity System delivers public safety wireless service plus future-proof support, without hardware upgrades.

Zinwave is showcasing its UNItivity distributed in-building wireless access solution for wireless systems at the International Wireless Communications Expo (IWCE) being held from March 27-31 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. In its booth #1570, Zinwave is demonstrating what it bills as "the industry’s only in-building wireless system that supports all current public safety as well as cellular frequencies, and can accommodate the addition of future frequencies without the need for hardware upgrades."

The company says its UNItivity system’s wideband architecture supports frequencies from 150 to 2700 MHz, providing access for any public safety or cellular frequency, including FirstNet’s 700 MHz LTE. In addition, UNItivity uses a streamlined design that includes just two main components: a primary/secondary hub, and a thin, ceiling-mounted remote unit, so installation and maintenance is less expensive than with other, more complex DAS systems. Zinwave also offers a NEMA-certified waterproof enclosure for remote units that protects them from water, smoke and other environmental factors.

As an all-fiber system, Zinwave’s UNItivity solution is billed as an ideal choice for large facilities like airports, hospitals, universities and hotels because spare dark fiber is often available, saving on installation costs, and cabling can extend for more than a dozen kilometers while delivering uniformly high performance at each antenna location. UNItivity also delivers the lowest total cost of ownership (TCO) because it natively handles a wide range of current and future public safety frequency bands, so expensive equipment upgrades aren’t needed when new bands go into service.

“Many municipalities mandate public safety coverage in buildings over a certain size, and a wideband solution like UNItivity offers the ability to distribute public safety as well as cellular signals on the same infrastructure,” said Scott Willis, president and CEO of Zinwave. “We have extensive experience in deploying in-building public safety systems in a range of venue types such as universities and government facilities, so we bring outstanding skills along with an unrivaled product to the challenges of public safety wireless deployments.”

In addition at IWCE, Zinwave's VP of Operations James Martin presented on a panel entitled, “Network Capacity and Densification: HetNets, Backhaul, and FirstNet,” which was mounted on March 28 from 8:30 to 11:30 AM.
