Transition Networks streamlines hardened Gigabit Ethernet PoE+ managed switches

July 27, 2017
Transition says its Device Management System (DMS) features dramatically simplify management of PoE+ connected devices, providing ideal usage in harsh environments.

Transition Networks, Inc. announced that it has expanded its Device Management System (DMS) features to its hardened PoE+ managed switches. The new SISPM1040-384-LRT-C and SISPM1040-362-LRT switches provide advanced DMS tools to make management of IP-based powered devices easy with lower total cost, says the company.

According to Transition Networks, the new hardened Gigabit Ethernet PoE+ managed switches are ideal for supplying power and data to IP security cameras or monitoring / managing other attached powered devices from various vendors. The switches feature a slim form factor, a full front-access design, and are environmentally hardened to withstand temperatures ranging from -40°C to +75°C.

The switches can supply up to 30 Watts per port on all PoE+ ports simultaneously and are IEEE 802.3at compliant. The new units are also Class I Division 2 Certified to ensure reliable connectivity in hazardous locations areas such as in oil or gas manufacturing or chemical factories.

With the DMS, security integrators can auto discover and remotely configure IP-attached powered devices (PD) and can simplify management of the powered devices through various views, such as a graphical topology view, floor view or using Google Maps mapping service, allowing users to easily locate and keep track of these devices.

The switches also feature Auto Power Reset (APR), a feature used to monitor and automatically restart edge devices in the event of lock-ups, glitches or power failures, saving on truck rolls to remote locations for simple rebooting of the attached PDs. Other DMS features simplify troubleshooting cable and IP connection issues, allow monitoring and analyzing traffic by day, week, port or device, and conduct health checks with thresholds and auto-alarm on error conditions.

"Our hardened switches are ideal for harsh environments such as those found on factory floors, outdoor enclosures or other challenging environments," said GlenNiece Kutsch, product manager at Transition Networks. "With the embedded DMS software, the switches provide security integrators with lower overall cost, less downtime and easier management of the devices in these harsh environments."

The SISPM1040-384-LRT-C switch features eight 10/100/1000Base-T PoE+ ports and four 100/1000Base-X SFP ports. The SISPM1040-362-LRT switch features four 10/100/1000Base-T PoE+ ports and two 10/100/1000Base-T ports and two 100/1000Base-X SFP ports. Both switches support G.8032 Ethernet Ring Protection Switching (ERPS) and the IEEE 1588 v2 Precision Time Protocol and are Trade Agreement Act (TAA)-compliant for GSA contracts.
