Fiber pedestals for outside plant cabling

Multilink’s pedestals have the capability for patching, patch-and-splice, or splice-only applications within outside plant cabling environments.

Multilink recently announced new interconnect pedestals designed for fiber-opticoutside plant cabling applications such as fiber-to-the-home. The company says its “Fiber peds are designed for rapid deployment in the OSP environment. The peds have the capability for patching, patch-and-splice, or splice-only applications.”

The pedestals also can accept planar lightwave circuit (PLC) splitters as an option for expansion of a fiber-to-the-home network, Multilink explained. “They are manufactured from durable UV-inhibited materials that will stand the test of time” in an outside plant cabling installation, the company noted.

Multilink has produced a product guide for the pedestal, in which it explains that each has an environment-resistant seal, HDPE dome endbase, and its configurations are customizable. The pedestal’s distribution drop side features cable management for ease of fiber storage, Multilink says, as well as fiber strain relief tie-down holes. Meanwhile, the network side features independent splice-tray accessibility; the pedestal comes with one 24-position tray and has the capacity for two such trays.
