Concert Technologies cites 30 new RTPMs at 2013 BICSI Winter show

Concert Technologies announced from the 2013 BICSI Winter show that 30 of the company’s project managers have earned the association's Registered Telecommunications Project Managers (RTPM) credential.

BICSI, the international educational association for the Information Technology Systems (ITS) industry, recently began offering the RTPM credential, which has gained popularity within the federal government, leading to a high demand of RTPMs in federal infrastructure projects, claims Concert Technologies. The RTPM credential is designed to enhance project managers’ services and increases their skill-set for managing a work force of field technicians as well as equipment logistics for global infrastructure projects.

“With the RTPM’s knowledge focused on all aspects of technology infrastructure and what it takes to procure, install and test the components for maximum system performance, they can better set up communication plans and manage all stakeholders,” contends Andrew Crone, RTPM, VP of operations for Concert Technologies. “We realize the high impact an RTPM has on project success, which is the reason Concert Technologies has over 30 RTPMs on its technology rollout delivery team.”

A major benefit of engaging an RTPM, according to Concert Technologies, is the added oversight and coordination of the interaction between all the designers, engineers, installers and technicians involved in a multiple or single site project. In addition to personnel and project management expertise, the RTPM has specific knowledge of the cabling components, equipment and technology that work together to effectively disseminate information across a variety of information technology systems.

“A PMP may have more in-depth knowledge about budgets, risk assessment and scheduling, but the RTPM will understand the standards, specifications, the equipment and components, the lead time required for materials and all of the costs associated with infrastructure deployment," adds Matthew Odell, RCDD, director of healthcare technologies for S2N Technology Group. "It’s like having a specialized project manager for the job."

Concert Technologies appears on the January 2013 cover of Cabling Installation & Maintenance magazine for the issue's featured article on RTPMs. Concert Technologies' president and RTPM credential holder, Dennis Mazaris, wrote the article, which reviews the history of project management and how the RTPM credential allows project managers to improve the success of telecommunications projects.
