In the following short instructional video, Matt Kopin, sales support engineering manager with Kramer Electronics, gives an overview of the problems that the phenomenon of crosstalk in unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cabling can cause in digital video signaling.
The video answers the following real world question that Kopin says is frequently put to Kramer's technical support team: How can cross talk negatively effect a digital video signal when it's run through unshielded twisted pair cabling?
"Crosstalk is one of the most detrimental factors when sending HDMI over twisted pair cables, because information affected by crosstalk can't be recovered," contends Kopin. The video goes on to demonstrate the effect of crosstalk in a digital video stream where two segments of Cat 5 UTP cables are running in close proximity.
