Frontier Communications appoints VP of multicultural marketing

Frontier Communications has announced the appointment of Gabriela “Gaby” Zabalúa as the company's vice president of multicultural marketing.

Frontier Communications (NASDAQ: FTR) has announced the appointment of Gabriela “Gaby” Zabalúa as the company's vice president of multicultural marketing.

Zabalúa will be based at Frontier’s corporate headquarters in Norwalk, Connecticut, and will report to the company's vice president of corporate marketing and advertising, Jessica Sokolowski. In the position, Zabalúa will be responsible implementing a comprehensive, culturally appropriate, marketing and engagement strategy across multicultural markets for Frontier.

Commenting on the appointment, Sokolowski noted, “We’re extremely excited to have Gaby join our team. As we enter into a new era with Frontier Communications’ acquisition of Verizon's wireline operations in California, Florida and Texas, our company’s ability to resonate and connect with more complex, diverse and multicultural markets will be critical – and an exciting opportunity for growth. Gaby’s skills and expertise are a great addition.”

Zabalúa has a breadth of experience in marketing, creative and content development, media management, business development and a passion for engaging diverse consumers. She founded Viva Bilingual Communications LLC, where she developed communications strategies and bilingual content to effectively engage multicultural audiences for clients, including the Center of Medicare and Medicaid Services and Communications Strategy Resources, Inc.

Previously, she served as vice president of integrated communications and editor for the American Association for Retired Persons (AARP), where she created an award-winning platform of bilingual, multimedia properties for Hispanic members. She launched AARP’s Segunda Juventud bilingual magazine and its web, radio and TV franchises, and led AARP’s social media marketing.

Since 2012, Zabalúa has served on the Advisory Board of The Broadway League, where she helped create Viva Broadway, an audience development partnership with the Hispanic community, designed to bridge the world of Broadway with Latino audiences around the country. A native Spanish-language speaker, and with bilingual proficiency in English and French, Zabalúa also held other positions with Marriott International, OptiGlobe.com, and the Embassy of the Argentine Republic in Washington DC, that entailed promoting international cooperation throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.

Zabalúa holds an equivalent B.A. in foreign languages, translations, and interpreting from the University of Buenos Aires, in Argentina.
