At OFC 2018 (March 13-15), Cosemi Technologies Inc. is showcasing several of its active optical cable (AOC) solutions. Cosemi says its AOCs are designed to satisfy the need for plug-and-play bandwidth at the fastest interconnect speeds, over longer reach and with thinner cables than copper. At OFC, attendees can view Cosemi’s AOC demonstrations at its booth #3647 on the exhibition floor of the San Diego Convention Center.

Among the fiber-optic cables the company is highlighting at OFC are the:

8K DisplayPort 1.4 AOC – Demonstrating its industry-first OptoDP 1.4 8K AOC, Cosemi highlights the latest in video connectivity with an NVIDIA P2000 graphics card transferring uncompressed 8K (7680x4320) video to a Dell U3218K Ultrasharp 8K monitor. Addressing the growing demand for applications that feature 4K/8K video communications (vcom), including gaming, AR/VR, enterprise conferencing solutions, broadcast, automation and high-end residential markets, Cosemi’s OptoDP cable enables uncompressed 8K content to be viewed at full signal integrity (up to 100 meters of 8K60 444 resolution). The future-proof nature of the DisplayPort digital display interface makes it the right 4K/8K interconnect of choice today, as well as for tomorrow, contends the company.

100Gb/s QSFP28 AOC – Cosemi is showcasing its 100GbE compatible multi-rate AOC with compliance host boards using Anritsu MP2110A 4-ch BERT and sampling oscilloscope to display instant BER measurement and re-timed data eye patterns. As the backbone of cloud computing, data centers are placing ever-increasing pressures on data delivery. This fast-paced, highly interconnected market has standardized on 100G interconnects and QSFP28 pluggable form factors to build server-switch networks. These networks require optical connections to service links and, while longer reach is preferred over single-mode pluggable optical transceivers, AOCs represent a more effective, economical interconnect solution for distances of less than 100 meters. Cosemi’s OptoQSFP AOCs address the growing need for server-switch intra data center links supporting 100 Gb/s (4x25G) at distances up to 100 meters.

USB 3.1 AOCs – Cosemi is also demonstrating conferencing and huddle room trends in enterprises by connecting a Logitech Brio 4K camera to a conference room AV compute box, connected via the company's OptoUSB 3.1 Type-A AOC. Supporting the latest USB 3.1 Gen 2 standards, Cosemi says its OptoUSB AOCs are ideal for AR/VR, cameras for conference rooms and machine vision, storage and other computer peripherals. Cosemi will soon be announcing a partnership with Logitech as a Collaboration Partner. As a Logitech Collaboration Partner the two companies will deliver high-quality video collaboration experiences to Logitech customers.

“With its focus on the trends and pulse of the entire optical networking and communications industry, OFC is an ideal venue for us to demonstrate some of the ways we are helping to support today’s unprecedented data growth through powerful fiber optic cable solutions,” comments Dr. Nguyen X. Nguyen, CEO for Cosemi. “Our patented assembly methods allow us to provide the performance and speed of fiber optics in cost-effective cable assemblies that plug and play as simply as any copper-based cable.”
