Emerson Network Power opens Ohio engineering facility

Emerson's Advanced Engineering Center in Lorain, Ohio will be responsible for accelerating next-generation power and controller technology for all forms of communications networks.

Emerson Network Power (NYSE: EMR) recently announced the opening of its Advanced Engineering Center in Lorain, Ohio. Emerson says the facility will be responsible for accelerating next-generation power and controller technology for all forms of communications networks. The company says it selected Lorain over several potential sites around the world.

“We are excited not only for the technology innovations we anticipate being generated within this new Advanced Engineering Center, but also because it’s happening in Lorain, where we have an incredibly talented team with a long, distinguished history of innovation and market success,” explains Jean Francois Chouinard, vice president, engineering and quality at Emerson Network Power.

The new center, located in recently renovated space within Emerson’s Lorain operations, will add 12 engineering jobs this year and several more over the next several quarters, said a press release. These jobs are among the Lorain operation’s 30-plus planned new hires by 2014. All of the 30-plus new jobs to be created over the next two years in Lorain are expected to be highly-skilled engineering, marketing and service positions.

“This investment reinforces our organizational commitment to Lorain, to Ohio and to our customers in the domestic and global telecommunications and data center markets,” concludes Emerson's Chouinard.
