A webcast seminar hosted by Cabling Installation & Maintenance on April 25 will address three aspects of data center management that can help pave the way to efficient operation.

Presentation one will address "User benefits of preterminated fiber." The presentation will describe the physical characteristics of preterminated fiber cabling systems, explaining how and why they meet multiple needs in a data center environment. The presentation will also detail the MPO-style connectivity in these systems, introducing the concept of parallel optics cabling.

Presentation two is entitled "Power Distribution Units Gain Intelligence." Power distribution units (PDUs) have become valuable assets in data center operators’ continuing efforts to maximize power-use efficiency. Some PDUs now have the ability to monitor power consumption at extremely granular levels, enabling analysis of use and prompting necessary or helpful changes. This presentation discusses the capabilities of latest-generation PDUs, including detail on the extent to which they provide insight into devices’ power consumption.

Presentation three will tackle "The Flexibility of Enclosure Systems." Far from being just an assembly of bent metal housing network boxes, the enclosure is now an integral part of a data center administrator’s planning for current and future needs. Today’s enclosures can maximize the cooling efficiency of the contents within them, minimize the effort required to manage cabling and network devices, provide security measures for co-location environments, and more. This presentation provides an overview of the ways in which enclosures flex to meet changing data center networking requirements.

The roster of presenters includes: Ian Seaton, Global Technology Manager, Chatsworth Products; Michael Wood, Fiber Optics Product Manager, Legrand; and Bert Tisch, Manager of Application Services, Tripp Lite.
