New IP PBX connectivity appliances support traditional, VoIP, mobile/FMC, video services

Digium's Switchvox 450 and 470 are extremely full-featured redundant IP PBX appliances that meet the Unified Communications Systems needs of mid-sized businesses.

Digium, Inc. (Huntsville, AL), a unit of Asterisk Company, has announced general availability of its two new IP PBX appliances designed to meet the IP phone system needs of mid-size businesses, while delivering expanded performance capabilities.

The Digium Switchvox 400 Series includes all enterprise-class Unified Communications (UC) features at one affordable price, says the company. Supporting up to 600 users in a single business phone system, the Switchvox 400 platform now additionally provides more powerful processing for more demanding applications. The Switchvox 450 and Switchvox 470 are the newest additions to the product line and address larger applications and customer needs.

Essentially, Digium states that the expanded Switchvox 400 line now supports full-featured functionality for complete business phone systems, including support for: VoIP and traditional calling; mobile applications; fixed mobile convergence; interactive switchboard; advanced IVR capabilities; integrated conferencing; video calling support; voicemail with email integration; built-in call queues; detailed reporting; one-touch and scheduled recordings; CRM integration and extend API; faxing; music-on-hold; and Digium IP phone integration.

The Switchvox 450 and 470 appliances also offer server-class architectures, significantly more memory, state of the art processors, enhanced RAID options and solid state drives (SSD). These enhancements allow new Switchvox appliances to more than double the number of concurrent calls supported on the prior models. In addition to improved capacity and performance, the size of the appliances has been reduced by 46 percent, the weight by 37 percent, and the power consumption by 22 percent, producing environmentally-friendly solutions.

The Switchvox 470 is suited for mid-sized or larger businesses, provides the fastest processing power in the Switchvox product line for the most demanding applications, and supports up to 600 users in a single platform. It is priced at $12,975 USD.
