Oberon offering secure enclosures for cloud-optimized Cisco Meraki wireless products

June 21, 2013
Enclosures provide security and convenient access for cloud-centric wireless access points.

Oberon has published its list of products compatible with Cisco's Meraki wireless products. The list includes suspended ceiling enclosures, hard lid ceiling enclosures, wall enclosures, and an indoor/outdoor enclosure. The Oberon mounting hardware recommended for Cisco Meraki wireless products all features a locking mechanism to secure the wireless access point, easy and convenient access for network technicians, and an aesthetic form factor.

For installation of Meraki wireless access points in suspended ceilings, Oberon offers several alternatives, among them the flexible Model 1057-00. Oberon's 1057-00 suspended ceiling enclosure provides a secure, aesthetic, convenient mounting solution for wireless access points and DAS remote units from most vendors. The enclosure has a low-profile, impact-resistant ABS dome so that wireless access points with integrated or non-detachable antennas can be secured in otherwise unsecured spaces. The product is UL Listed and designed to satisfy National Electric Code paragraphs 300-22 and 300-23 for installation in the air-handling space. Locks are "keyed-alike" to simplify moves, adds, and changes.

For indoor/outdoor applications, Oberon offers the Model 1024-00. The Model 1024-00 is a compact NEMA enclosure designed to protect wireless LAN access points with internal or external antennas in challenging indoor/outdoor environments. This rugged polycarbonate enclosure protects the access point from weather, dust, and jarring impacts. It is transparent to wireless signals, so access points with body integrated antennas or small detachable antennas may be protected. The enclosure has a hinged cover, molded-in padlock hasps for locking, and interior panel for attaching access points. The enclosure is paintable and includes wall mounting hardware. Enclosures with clear covers are available.

In an era where BYOD is increasingly the rule, the Meraki line was designed from the ground up for cloud networking, says Cisco. The company states, "Cisco Meraki cloud-managed edge and branch networking solutions simplify enterprise-class networks. Wireless, switching, security, and devices are centrally managed from the cloud. In this way, Meraki gives network administrators visibility and control, without the cost and complexity of traditional architectures."
