OCC's Collapsible Tripod is the latest addition to its Modular Advanced Reel System (MARS) line of fiber-optic reels and accessories.

Optical Cable Corporation (OCC) has introduced its Collapsible Tripod as the latest addition to its Modular Advanced Reel System (MARS) line of fiber-optic reels and accessories.

According to the company, in minutes, the collapsible tripod assembles into a fully functional cable deployment system that can support OCC’s MARS 100M, 300M and 500M reels.

Especially suitable for mobile emergency communications systems or mobile tactical shelters, OCC bills the collapsible tripod as a "must have for any deployable communications application" where space and weight are the most critical attributes to consider.

The lightweight, portable tripod weighs less than 4.5 kilograms. It also features interchangeable axles, available in MARS 100M, 300M, 500M reel options. An integrated brake prevents reel overspinning, and it locks the reel in place during transport.

“It’s quite incredible how something so small and light can support such heavy reels,” comments Barney Dean, business development specialist at OCC. “The collapsible tripod can easily be hand carried or tossed in a pack, but when assembled, the sturdy 11 gauge steel frame holds reels weighing up to 18 kilograms.”
