L-com unveils outdoor-rated Cat 5e, Cat 6a continuous flex Ethernet cables

Designed for industrial or outdoor environments, the new, ultra-flexible Category 5e and Category 6a patch cords "are built to take a beating," says the company.

L-com has released a new series of outdoor-rated, continuous flex Ethernet cable assemblies. Designed for industrial or outdoor environments, the new, ultra-flexible Category 5e and Category 6a patch cords "are built to take a beating," says the company.

"These new Industrial Ethernet cable assemblies bridge the gap between OSP applications and more traditional indoor industrial network installations," explains Dave Gallagher, product manager at L-com. "These new rugged cable assemblies are perfect for a range of applications such as oil and gas extraction and refinement, wastewater and mining network applications."

L-com says the cables utilize an outdoor-rated flame-retardant thermoplastic elastomer (FR-TPE) jacket that is resistant to oil and UV damage while maintaining a CMX flame rating. Double shielding coupled with L-com's shielded RJ45 connectors reduce EMI/RFI interference.

The cables are available off the shelf in a range of lengths, from one foot to 50 feet. Custom length versions are available upon request.
