Oct. 5, 2022
New smart building kits include a comprehensive platform for MPTL testing.

AEM announced that it is now offering enhanced test kits to deliver more testing capabilities for its TestPro CV100 Multifunction Cable Certifier and Network Service Assistant Multifunction Qualification+ Tester platform.

According to the company, the new test kits include the following additions:

  • TestPro Kits that support Tier 1 Fiber Optic Certification, TestPro CV100 K11E, K51E, K61E now contain a USB Fiber Inspection Scope, Interface Adapters, and Test Reference Cords, adding SC testing capability to the LC testing out of the box.
  • TestPro kits that support Copper Cable Certification, TestPro CV100 K50E, K51E, K60E, and K61E now include both Channel and Permanent link adapters rated for Cat8.1, which support certification of Cat5e – Cat 8.1 within a single test adapter.
  • TestPro’s award-winning Smart Building Test Kits, TestPro CV100 K60E and K61E now include one Cat6A Patch Cord Adapter for use in testing Cat6A MPTL, a growing test configuration requirement, Cat5e and Cat6 Patch Cord Adapters sold separately.
  • For larger organizations that need to outfit multiple field technicians, AEM’s TestPro CV100 K50E Kit now comes in a convenient 4-pack including one year of Extended Care, all in a single SKU at a discounted price.
  • AEM Network Service Assistant now offers an optional Coax Test Adapter Kit, expanding testing capability into security, audio-visual wiring, and CATV. The Network Service Assistant Fiber Optic Test Kits, NSA-K31E and NSA-K61E now include the USB Fiber Scope, Interface Adapters, Loopback Adapters and Test Reference Cords for testing SC in addition to LC.

Re-designed touch screen display

AEM concurrently announced a fully re-designed user interface available for all TestPro and Network Service Assistant platforms via the platforms' version 4.0 firmware download from the company’s website. Drawing the design into the new corporate branding of AEM as launched in 2021 is a slick new touch screen display, elevating the overall visual and touch user interface experience. All AEM TestPro and Network Service Assistant test platforms can benefit from this new user interface, by downloading the firmware update, which was made available on October 4, 2022. For those that want to upgrade their display, AEM offers an upgrade option.

AEM honored by 2022 Cabling Innovators Awards

Meanwhile, at the BICSI Fall Conference 2022 (Sep. 25-29), AEM's TestPro CV100 was recognized among products honored by the 2022 CI&M Cabling Innovators Awards.

An esteemed panel of judges from the cabling community launded the TestPro CV100 Multifunction Cable Certifier as a Gold Cabling Innovators honoree, for the product’s unique ability to provide comprehensive cable certification and validation testing from installation to implementation, all in a single multifunction test solution.

CI&M chief editor Patrick McLaughlin said:

“On behalf of the Cabling Installation & Maintenance Innovators Awards, I would like to congratulate AEM on their Gold level honoree status. This competitive program allows Cabling Installation & Maintenance to celebrate and recognize the most innovative products, projects, technologies, and programs impacting the industry.”

AEM says its TestPro CV100 Multifunction Cable Certifier is a feature-rich modular test platform purpose-built for modern smart building network infrastructure, that allows for customization of the exact test suite required for a site.

The TestPro provides not only initial cable installation certification, but also validation testing throughout network infrastructure rollout during the implementation phase.

TestPro supports copper cable certification, singlemode and multimode tier 1 fiber optic certification, including support for hybrid-powered fiber.

Additionally, the TestPro supports a Signal-to-Noise (SNR) measurement while under both network traffic and PoE load to assure the link can support the desired application, up to 10Gigabit Ethernet.

In-depth PoE load testing supports of 802.3 af/at/bt standards, and UPoE. For wired multi-gigabit network connectivity, TestPro features details on switch slot/port/VLAN, network discovery, and troubleshooting tools such as Ping and Traceroute.

For wireless, in addition to these tools, TestPro reports all seen SSIDs, their associated channel and signal strength, including roaming signal strength.

AEM contends that, for those that may have already invested in a cable certifier, but lack the implementation testing capabilities, the TestPro is a highly complementary solution, as each hand-set in the test kit can be independently deployed as stand-alone wired and wireless network connectivity tester to round out the full breadth of testing capability needed to complete a cabling and implementation rollout.

Additionally, in times when more cable certification equipment is needed, the two hand-sets can be turned back into a Main and Remote and function as cable certifiers.

AEM’s TestPro is independently verified by Intertek, and holds ETL verification to meet ANSI/TIA-1152-A (Levels IIIe and 2G), IEC 61935-1 Ed. 4 (Levels IIIe and V) and IEC 61935-1 Ed. 5 Draft 46/595/CD (Levels VI Class I and Class II) with the applicable field tester parameters and measurement comparison with the network analyzer.
