On point: Cabling photos

Nov. 14, 2022
In the wide, wide world of IDFs for fiber and copper connectivity, pro AV racks small and large, and Category cabling deployments of all shapes and sizes, it's always nice to assign ample credit where due, especially on social media.

As defined by Oxford Languages, in the U.S. when we say something's "on point," we of course mean it's "extremely good, attractive, or stylish." And that's just how you'll find the wide array information and communications technology (ICT) structured cabling deployments photographically enshrined at Reddit's social media technical subgroup for the connectivity installers' trade...

In the wide, wide world of IDFs, it's always nice to give credit where due.

Ironically enough, the polar opposite of so-called "Mickey Mouse" rack work is to be found right down in the belly of the beast.

It's all aces...except for that single, cut zip-tie lurking on the floor. ;)

Seriously. That's what they're grumbling about in the Comments section here.

So many great cabling photos these days come from the commercial broadcast / ProAV segment. And here's a few more.

Meanwhile, before-and-after cabling photos from workaday SMB comms rack clean-ups are always instructive, each telling its own little tale.

The Broadcast AV segment: Where the cable trays flow like the tracks of a roller coaster.

It's not every Cat6 install that might non-hyperbolically be termed, "Mighty cute." But here's a top contender for the designation.

Another TR IDF drill-down. Extra nice to get the specs up front.

Good things do come in small packages. As explained by Reddit OP [orig. poster] u/CorvusKing:

Orange is going to a POE switch for cameras and WAPs, blue is just a regular switch.

Home, sweet home.

Do not try this at home.

As a great man known for his work inside large computer networks once said, there's a difference between knowing the path, and walking the path. Looks like they've got all eventualities tied down here. Solid work endures!
