TIA announces Data Center Workshop

Sept. 23, 2014
Upcoming event to address growing concern about cybersecurity, cross-border data flows, IT management and talent shortages.

The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) has announced its Data Center Workshop. Held November 11-12, TIA says the workshop "will address critical issues facing the entire data center value chain, from cloud service providers and equipment vendors to end-users involved in enterprise, government, finance, and more.

Government and enterprise executives attending the workshop will tour CenturyLink Technology Solutions' data center in Sterling, Va. on November 11. The second day of the event, which takes place at TIA's headquarters in Arlington, Va., will feature experts from Google, Microsoft, CenturyLink, RagingWire, SANS Institute, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and other leading organizations, and will highlight the critical issues affecting the dramatically changing data center landscape and the IT needs of organizations.

Panel discussion topics on November 12 will include emerging developments in cross-border data flows (including EU-U.S. Safe Harbor and ongoing trade agreement negotiations), cybersecurity issues affecting the enterprise and government, new strategies for meeting organizations' IT needs, technological advances in software-defined networking (SDN), and more.

Additional topics will include architecture and cabling for "Beyond-100G" data centers and how cloud service providers, ISPs, MSOs and enterprises can meet extremely low-latency connection requirements in increasingly congested network infrastructures. Panelists will also address recent efforts by manufacturers and standards organizations to define new 25/50G and 400G Ethernet connections within data center facilities. The workshop is sponsored by Dell, Power & Tel, Henkels & McCoy, Sumitomo Electric Lightwave, and CenturyLink Technology Solutions.

The Data Center Workshop will feature the following speakers:
