Tripp Lite offers Category 6 cable and patch cords, as well as Category 6A patch cords, that meet the requirements for UL’s LP certification.
Tripp Lite
This plenum-rated Category 6 cable from Tripp Lite is certified to the UL's requirements for a Limited Power (LP) rating.
Tripp Lite recently announced it has a portfolio of Category 6 and Category 6A products that meet the certification requirements for the LP (Limited Power) rating. UL, which certifies cable to the LP rating, explains, “The LP designation indicates that the cable has been evaluated to carry the marked current under reasonable worst-case installation scenarios without exceeding the temperature rating of the cable. The certification takes into account large bundle sizes, high ambient temperatures and other issues related to environmental effects, such as enclosed spaces or conduits.”
Tripp Lite’s LP-rated products also have achieved the CMR or CMP—riser or plenum—rating.
Speaking about the LP rating, UL continues, “Our certification provides an uncomplicated way to help ensure installations are ready for the increasing power levels and are not susceptible to safety issues caused by excessive heat generation. This simplifies installation planning.”
Tripp Lite lists 13 Category 6 and Category 6A products that have achieved the LP rating—one twisted-pair cable and 12 twisted-pair patch cords. Here is the list of Tripp Lite’s LP-rated products.
