This graph from Crehan Research shows the adoption rates for 800 Gbit Ethernet (yellow line) versus 400 Gbit Ethernet (green line) over the same five quarters of the speeds' availability in the market. The 400 GbE green line spans from the second quarter of 2019 through the second quarter of 2020. The 800 GbE yellow line spans from the second quarter of 2024 through the second quarter of 2025.
Crehan Research’s findings for the first half of 2025 says, to nobody’s surprise, that generative AI is fueling the 25% year-over-year growth in branded 800G switch sales.
