Data Center Rack Mover Handles Loads Weighing up to 17000 Pounds
The Data Center Rack Mover, an electric-powered straddle stacker from Superlift South Inc., lifts, transports, and positions complete server racks, UPS systems, and battery cabinets weighing between 4000 and 10000 pounds, with a single operator and no internal combustion located near the IT load. When introducing the Rack Mover, Superlift South explained, “A fully loaded rack server can weigh as much as a pickup truck, and it still gets moved through most data centers the way it always has: with a forklift that was never designed for the white space, a pallet jack, and several technicians hoping nothing tips. [We built] the alternative … The Rack Mover’s straddle legs open to a 62.1-inch outside width, cradling racks and wide loads instead of balancing them on for tips, while its 55-inch forks and low 3.0-inch lowered height suit raised-floor environments and low-clearance equipment.”
The company further explains that the machine’s 24V AC drive with a 24V, 320Ah battery delivers clean, zero-emission indoor operation. And its programmable control with power steering and safety controls keeps acceleration gentle. That minimizes the shock and vibration that high-value servers, network switches, and rack-mounted hardware should never take. The Rack Mover is made of heavy-duty steel and is ANSI B56.1-compliant.
The Rack Mover is Superlift’s flagship product and one of six in its data center lifting equipment line. That product line also includes the Data Center Truck, the Data Center Manual Pallet Jack, the Data Center Load Lifter, the Data Center Uplift Heavy Duty Scissor Lift, and the Data Center Uplift Stainless Steel Self-Propelled Manlift.
