Swiss cabling provider Reichle & De-Massari (R&M) says it has acquired Advanced Fiber Systems (AFS), a manufacturer of fiber-optic cables, racks, and telecom equipment accessories for public network applications, based in Bangalore, India. R&M said it expects the acquisition to provide an industrial platform to strengthen its existing structured cabling business in India, while addressing new strategic market segments. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“We are very excited about the benefits and potential of this acquisition,” commented Laurent Amestoy, executive vice president of R&M Asia-Pacific. “R&M has achieved tremendous growth in India since beginning operations in 2006. This acquisition is a key milestone to further expand our business in India. We can now actively participate in the growing fiber-optic network deployments, fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) roll-outs, and data center projects. I remain confident that our high-quality approach and greater local presence will take us to the next level in India."
AFS has been an R&M certified assembly partner for the E-2000 connector for several years. The company was founded in 2002 and has its production facility in Bangalore. The management and all employees of AFS will transfer to R&M in India. R&M also has facilities in Bangalore. The addition of the AFS employees will increase R&M’s headcount in the country to more than 50 people.
"Over the last 10 years, we have built excellent customer relationships through our expertise in fiber-optic technology and the ability to offer customized solutions,” remarked Vijay Kumar H.P., director of AFS. “We are thrilled to become a part of the R&M's global organization. With R&M’s worldwide expertise and our local knowledge, we will be able to offer new solutions with added value to our customers."
