Berk-Tek, a Nexans company, has introduced a Category 6A cable that is 0.275-inches in outside diameter. The LANmark-XTP cable “features a unique noise-cancelling crosstalk prevention [XTP] technology that virtually eliminates alien crosstalk,” said Brian Simmons, copper product manager for Berk-Tek, “providing the highest alien crosstalk margin available in a Cat 6A UTP cable. This small-diameter Cat 6A-compliant cable improves cable density and promotes better operational airflow and cooling in the congested pathways often found in today’s data centers.”
Berk-Tek said the LANmark-XTP is the result of new cable-design elements and leveraged the extensive expertise of the Nexans Data Communications Competence Center, located in the New Holland, PA facility. The LANmark-XTP is being unveiled as part of the Berk-Tek Leviton Technologies exhibit at BICSI’s Winter Conference February 3-5.
The cable is part of the companies’ combined CX6800 cabling systems. “This premium Cat 6A end-to-end solution delivers best-in-class performance and becomes the preferred choice for supporting the most demanding, mission-critical data center environments,” Berk-Tek said.
Simmons added, “The CX6800 system features margin guarantees for both long channels and permanent links down to 10 feet—an achievement that would not have been possible without close collaboration with the Leviton Network Solutions team.”
Berk-Tek said the CX6800 system is ideal for data center computer clusters, high-performance computing environment and emerging PoE++ applications that will demand a robust cable for higher-wattage devices.
