Bloomberg Businessweek reports that General Cable has acquired wire and cable maker BICC Egypt for an undisclosed sum.

General Cable said the deal expands its geographic reach into the fast growing markets of the Mediterranean and North Africa. The company reportedly expects demand in Egypt to grow faster than in many other nations, due to increasing investment in the country's infrastructure.

BICC Egypt reported about $30 million in revenue in the past year, according to Bloomberg.
