Access fibers midspan with jacket slitter

March 17, 2011
The Adjustable Jacket Slitter from Ripley works on cables with 1.9- to 3-mm outside diameters.

A new tool from Ripley's Miller division allows fiber workers to access a loose-tube fiber-optic cable midspan. The AJS, Adjustable Jack Slitter, works on fiber-optic cables between 1.9 and 3.0 mm in diameter. It facilitates a single shave-like slit without the need for adjustments or die changes, Ripley notes.

Included with the tool is a buffer-tube diameter guide. Replacing the AJS's blade requires just a screwdriver.
