Field-Terminated Category 8 Connectors

Platinum Tools recently introduced three Category 8 connectivity products: an RJ45 connector (plug), a keystone jack, and a keystone jack with shutter. All three offer tool-less operation.

When introducing the products, Platinum pointed out they are “ideal for technicians working with Cat 8 or oversized cables that do not typically fit in a standard connector.”

Sean Rothermel, product manager for Platinum Tools, explained, “The Cat8 connectors offer an easier way to terminate, making these versatile and reliable solutions perfect for field work, data centers, and telecom applications. These connectors and keystone jacks utilize a tool-less design to make terminations on oversized cables a breeze. Simply strip your cable jacket, split the pairs, align into the correct slots, trim excess, and snap closed.”

The company also added these connectors work on all standard cables including Categories 8, 7, 6A, 6, and 5e, with outside-diameter ranges of 5 to 9.9 mm, and conductor outside-diameter ranges of 0.8 to 1.47 mm.
