Cleerline recently introduced a new line of fiber-optic patch cords that feature MTP connectors for high-density connections along with the company’s own proprietary optical fiber. Cleerline says SSF fiber provides as much as 10,000 times the bend resistance as traditional fibers. The Cleerline MTP Patch Cords are available now.

“We recognized the need for more-durable MTP and MPO cables in the market,” said Cleerline president Ryan Prentice when introducing the new cords. “In multistrand cables, if a single fiber is compromised during installation or handling, the entire assembly must be replaced. SSF ensures that won’t happen.”

The company describes SSF glass as “the strongest, most durable optical fiber in the industry. Unlike traditional fiber, SSF features an integral polymer coating that dramatically increases bend tolerance and long-term reliability while eliminating the need for bulky armored construction.

“These patch cables are designed to maintain optical performance even under tight bends, providing exceptional performance and ease of installation in space-constrained environments,” Cleerline continues. “The strength and flexibility of SSF glass makes these cables especially well-suited for mission-critical applications where uptime, resilience, and simplified handling are essential. Each cable is 100% performance tested to exceed industry standards for insertion loss and reflectance.”

The cords’ US Conec Elite MTP connectors ensure full compatibility with standard MPO connections. Following are the options for the assemblies’ construction.

  • 8, 12, or 24 fibers
  • OM3, multiple OM4, or OS2 performance levels
  • Multiple polarities
  • UPC or APC polish
  • Male or female construction
  • Custom lengths, trunk builds, and breakouts

Elaborating on its proprietary SSF optical fiber, Cleerline points out it “maintains optical performance in tight routing spaces with ultra-low bend loss,” and that its “superior strength without added bulk” is “ideal for high-density environments.”

Additionally, Cleerline offers a patch cable configurator on its website that the company says is “designed to streamline the design, quoting, ordering process for prefabricated fiber patch cords of any length or quantity. Integrators simply select the desired fiber-optic cable type, connector style, cable length, and assembly customizations from drop-down menus.”
